About Margot

Welcome to Simply Margot

Hi I’m Margot Jurgens this is a window to my creative contemplative world.

My art and writing are part of my own contemplative practice to be awake and alive to the love and presence of God in all of creation. I am passionate about helping others see that there is another story, one of peace and love. In that story there is room for everyone and everything to belong.

“Contemplation is life itself, fully awake, fully active, fully aware that it is alive. It is  spiritual wonder. It is spontaneous awe at the sacredness of life, of being. It is gratitude for life, for awareness, and for being. It is a vivid realization of the fact that life and being in us proceed from an invisible, transcendent, and infinitely abundant Source. Contemplation is, above all, awareness of the reality of that Source. It knows the Source, obscurely inexplicably, but with certitude that goes beyond reason and beyond simple faith…” ~Thomas Merton

I am a licensed massage therapist with a small in-home practice in Spokane Washington. My art studio and massage room share the upper floor of my home. I also have a small shop on that floor that often has things that have not yet made it to this website. I encourage you to become part of my email list so that I can notify you when I am hosting an online show of my work or other special events.

I have always found ways to fit art and writing around my family and my everyday commitments. It often means I get up early before my household or stay up late after they have gone to bed. Creating art and writing feeds my soul. It is always in a contemplative kind of space where, in a sense, I hang out with God and we make things together. Some things like my prints and cards are reproducible, more often the things I am working on as mosaics and fused glass projects are each one of a kind. Sometimes my art studio has multiple projects happening all at the same time.

I have a big red Irish Setter named Trinket who makes sure I get out of the studio for walks. My two gray cats named JoJo and Bean who love to help out in the studio. They are particularly good at making confetti out of any stray paper that they find on the floor.

I hope to eventually set up special tiered incentives for folks who would like to be monthly supporters and get in on those benefits. I have so many ideas of larger projects that I want to work on and regular supporters help make those projects possible.  For now I hope you enjoy your time at this site and if you feel inclined, buy me a coffee at my Ko-fi page.

Peace, Love, and Blessings,

Margot Jurgens
